A man wanders the streets of a town in search of a woman. A mysterious voice provides some clues: the dangerous forest, crawling snakes, the blood of the dead. It is perhaps more a matter of exploring a territory than writing a story, as we have no planned route, no destiny, no possible solution for revealing all that is hidden by the film.
Those Who Wander is a film that unfolds like an enigma, a sort of sophisticated game composed of a urban landscape, mysterious characters, some clues. However, the stylised staging that transports us into this spectral atmosphere does not avoid to record the reality of a city on the way. Is it Río de Janeiro? The sounds of the cars, the wide motorways that cross it, the face of the people who pass before the camera, all this suggests so. A fragmented account composed of encrypted signs, dreamlike visions and whisperings invites us to roam like the characters of the film in another reality—roaming being the only movement possible for drawing out the cartographical work of this town whose name we’ll never know.
