A girl and a boy walk the streets of their city. They both look lonely. The streets are almost devoid of people. What are the two looking for? They continue walking and it looks like they must somehow or somewhere cross their paths. Their “flaneuring” through the city maze becomes the sign of an interior adventure that does not dare manifest itself on the outside. Thus, the exploration of the urban topography becomes the sign of a metaphysical adventure. Director Koo-yong Sohn explains the structure of his film with these words: “Under the premise that cinema is closest to music, I came to the idea of making a film that is formally like a song. Thus, I wanted to develop the time in this film through a non-narrative, rhythm-and-melody-driven timeline. I felt that the movement of the camera and actors, the colours and shapes within the frame, and the natural sounds from the locations could play the role of rhythm and melody”. A subtle exploration of urban loneliness. A sophisticated comedy for the flaneurs of the inner space.
