Small city, big story. In the Wichita Foothills rises a different Jerusalem, right in the heart of Oklahoma. For the past 88 years, the eastern pageant about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has attracted huge crowds. Now the town faces a terrible challenge. The actor who has been playing Jesus is retiring. The play needs a new saviour. Thus begins the quest for another Jesus. Huge castings are organised. What exactly is an actor required to do to step into the dust-covered sandals of Jesus and embody the mysteries of Christian faith? Even though the crowd knows the story of the death and resurrection by heart, it requires a suspension of disbelief from the performer that goes far beyond the strategies of method acting. Therefore, a hipster beard and out-of-fashion hippie long hair are definitely not enough to satisfy the thirst for credibility of a crowd that is not easily seduced by the latest trends in showbiz. As the audition dates approach, a new candidate finally appears on the horizon. However, what if the new Jesus has a secret he is hiding from everyone?
