Chjami è Rispondi

Ten years after his last visit, Axel Salvatori-Sinz returns to Cateri, the Corsican village that is the cradle of his paternal family. He goes alone, to find his father there, alone. He suggests a duel hoping that a confrontation will encourage the appearance of the intimate words he feels are lacking. The form of this face-off remains to be defined and the film is constructed through the search for an appropriate device… In turns, Axel suggests to his father filming a scene on a bike, eating together alongside each other, engaging in wild psychoanalysis, teaching him to drive... In each of these situations, they participate in Chjami è Rispondi, literally “call and response”, this Corsican verbal jousting, which stops only when the answer is satisfactory.
Axel Salvatori-Sinz honoured us with the première of his first film at Visions du Réel, in 2013. You probably remember the highly acclaimed The Shebabs of Yarmouk. Today, as this edition will be marked by his absence, we wanted to take our turn to pay tribute to him by screening his final film.
