Vincent Dieutre escalates his “exercises in admiration” by re-appropriating Rossellini’s Journey to Italy for himself. A false remake, the film deploys a queer transposing of the work of fiction, which, beyond the sentiment of loss that it contains, proceeds like a joyful affirmation of the power of art, and the putting into play/staging of a hybrid aesthetical discourse.
