Daniele, a young man from Sant’Erasmo, an island on the Venice Lagoon, dreams of a record breaking “barchino” (motorboat). In this beautiful and cinematic piece, Yuri Ancarani transports us to a musical and choreographic univers and succeeds in portraying a rootless generation, seen from the timeless perspective of the Venetian landscape.

Young Venetians seem to live in a world apart; far from tourists, in a parallel reality, they belong to a tribe of their own. Nevertheless, they are unintentionally part of a very Italian tradition: the passion for engines, mechanics and speed, usually related to the universe created by Don Enzo Ferrari. In this case, they display this devotion in the landscape they have been given and know best: the water, the lagoon. The film describes a secret and socially privileged way of being in this world-famous landscape, in which Daniele, a young man residing on the island Sant’Erasmo, lives on the edge and dreams of breaking a record with his “barchino” (motorboat). In this beautiful and cinematic piece, Yuri Ancarani transports us to a musical and choreographic dimension, and with magnetic images succeeds in portraying a rootless generation at the exact moment in which youth seems infinite and eternal.
