In 2008, Russia declared war on Georgia, leading to hundreds of deaths and exile for tens of thousands. In static shot, without speaking, the director films the people who lived through the tragedy. Using neither voyeurism nor deference, she finds the right distance, enabling her to portray the power of the pain and incomprehension.
