Drama and reality combine in a fictitious 24 hours in the life of the musician Nick Cave, on his 20,000th day on planet earth. Echoes of Godard’s One+One and ghostly appearances of figures who marked Nick Cave’s life, such as Blixa Bargeld or Kylie Minogue. Both entertaining and sophisticated, the film goes much beyond Nick Cave and touches the universal mystery of the creative process.

Drama and reality combine in a fictitious 24 hours in the life of the renowned musician Nick Cave, on his 20,000th day on planet earth. We hear echoes of Godard’s One+One and witness ghostly appearances of figures who marked Nick Cave’s life, as Blixa Bargeld or Kylie Minogue. Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, visual artists who already worked with Nick Cave on several music videos, set up several staged situations in which Cave improvises confidently, revealing more about his vision than mere gossips on his private life. The staged situations, far from being imposed (Cave is also credited as co-writer), seem to enhance the spontaneity and evident sincerity of all participants, starting with Cave himself. Both playful and accurate, entertaining and sophisticated, the film actually goes much beyond Nick Cave and touches the universal mystery of the creative process.
