Dennis and his filmmaker friend decide to join his parents in Tuscany where they are spending the summer holiday. Dennis is not in the best of moods. His past and his choices seem to loom over him, to haunt him even in the golden and warm sun of Tuscany. His friend tries to unlock his silences, unsuccessfully. Dennis seems to be hurting. Only skating feels a bit like a momentary peace of mind. His parents do not ask, and Dennis does not tell. Through the gaze of his camera, the filmmaker tries to get closer to him while keeping all the time a respectful distance, just enough to allow Dennis to acknowledge his presence without forcing to answer any direct questions. On their way back, they get stuck in a traffic jam and what looks like a moment of truth brings to a partial closure. Or maybe not. A silent drama about friendship and honesty filmed with an extraordinary empathy and warmth. Precise camerawork and careful editing reflect a remarkable work by an extremely gifted filmmaker.
