His country still being in the grip of violence and terrorism, Tariq Teguia spends the summer of 1996 shooting a video essay composed of a series of fixed portraits in black and white and slow lateral travelling shots that reveal an architectural chaos spiked with steel rods. The scrap iron metaphorically presents a blocked society, an alienating territory peopled with figures reduced to silence.
