Manfred and Jürgen, both in their mid-seventies, are respected citizens and enjoy their free Saturday. They love sunbathing, gardening and doing all the ordinary chores that a household requires. On Sunday they are joined by Rosi, an old friend of theirs. Together they stage some ‘SM Bondage’ sessions with the required tying, flogging and all the other rituals. A film about freedom and sex.

The question of what is so called “normalcy” is crucial. Every kind of fascism tries to define and force others to stick to a so called rule of “normalcy”. What seems always so incredibly difficult to grasp is that there is not one normalcy, but many. As many as the people out there. So the question of “normalcy” is deeply political. It pertains to a question of freedom and therefore becomes a question of lifestyle. Manfred and Jürgen, both in their mid-seventies, have a lifetime of work behind them. They are respected citizens and enjoy their free Saturday. They love sunbathing, gardening and doing all the ordinary chores that a household requires. On Sunday they are joined by Rosi, an old friend of theirs. Together they stage some SM-Bondage sessions with all the required tying, flogging and the other rituals. And while they are at it, they film some of the sessions they are enjoying with their common friend. Jan Soldat’s insightful and very funny short film poses some very deep political questions about the right to enjoy sex in a tender and affectionate way. Giona A. Nazzaro
