Don’t Tidy or Clean My Room, I Like It as It Is

In his previous film, the Argentinian documentary filmmaker Ignacio Ceroi invented a life. That of a man he calls Charles, whose existence he discovers through images recovered from a second-hand camera. He invents a day-to-day life, friendships and loves for him, in a film that he will present around the world… Don't Tidy or Clean My Room, I Like It as It Is picks up where the previous film left off, with the irrepressible, even obsessive, desire to find this man again. But for real this time. His quest takes him from Buenos Aires to the South of France, via Paris. Surrounded by his fellow film crew members, reluctant protagonists in this near-impossible mission, they conduct the investigation aided by a few scraps of clues scattered throughout the many hours of recording. From this trivial and, some might say, voyeuristic project, Ignacio Ceroi produces an exciting cinematic concept that weaves a powerful narrative thread. Rich and vibrant, it appropriates the codes of film noir and the aesthetics of the New Wave in an absurd, playful and profoundly melancholic project. Because when truth emerges from lies and fiction becomes reality, the filmmaker is assailed by a powerful vertigo. A film about memory, remembrance and the ghosts that populate our past... and a little piece of eternity for Charles.
