A mining town in Sweden’s north-eastern province disappears, leaving behind cherished memories, high hopes and profound sorrow… Two young musicians are the last singers remaining from this working-class era. Their voices represent an individual act as well as a collective mourning. A creative documentary that flies with the wings of nostalgia.

A son loses his father because of alcoholism. The people of a mining town in northern Sweden see their community slowly disappearing into a hole, little by little, piece by piece. These two situations beyond control create pain and anguish; however, is it possible to compare an act of personal mourning with collective suffering? This is the question that the filmmaker seeks to answer, returning to his native town of Malmberget and gathering information about its gradual dismantling. Following the existential adventure of two young musicians who, with their lyrics, are the last singers remaining from this working-class era, he turns the camera towards his own feelings. His two protagonists, their faces reminiscent of those of rock legends, plunge us into a literary atmosphere close to that of “In Search of Lost Time”, where the withered hopes of a promising future meet the observation of the present degradation. The result of this work is a creative documentary that flies on the wings of nostalgia.
