“I wanted to capture the images before leaving it all. With my mother and brother, I wanted to conjure up in this kitchen at rest, around an accordion, a seahorse or a box of beetles, the events this house had witnessed. The echoes of life in these walls. Tenderness, love, family. The last small rituals before leaving, appeased.” (DF)

An intimate and discreet film imbued with a rare strength.

“The house: the temple of family communion, frozen since the death of the father. A space where we are convinced we can stop time and save something of our family, our childhood; save fragments of a lifetime. The film seeks to capture the point at which the period of mourning ends, the point at which we open the blinds and allow light to flood into the room. When life begins again. […] With my mother and brother, I wanted to conjure up, in this kitchen at rest, around an accordion, a seahorse or a box of beetles, the events this house had witnessed. The echoes of life in these walls. Tenderness, love, family. The last small rituals before leaving, appeased” (DdF). Simple and emotional words between the filmmaker, off screen, camera in hand, and her family. Long shots that listen to the silence and suspend time. The past comes alive in drawings, through highly suggestive accounts. A film that conjures up death – souls, possessions, memories themselves. An intimate and discreet work imbued with a rare strength.
