What Remains follows an artist and taxidermist who transforms naturally deceased animals into works of art. Raised in rural Paraná, Brazil, he grew up in close contact with animal death, without sentimentality or illusion. Fascinated from an early age by bones, skins, and carcasses, he studied biology before turning to taxidermy as both craft and artistic language.
Working exclusively with ethically sourced animals, he creates objects that reframe death as material, memory, and form, including necklaces made from hearts, lamps constructed from rib cages, and other hybrid works that exist between art, ritual, and preservation. Alongside his personal practice, he also preserves pets, offering owners an alternative way of relating to grief.
Through intimate studio footage, observational moments, and interviews, What Remains invites reflection on how we assign meaning to bodies, loss, and what endures after life.
