'For my sake' - a conversation about dying between my grandma Helga and me. Helga has cancer. It will probably be her last year, I'm going to visit her more often now and take the camera with me. We ask ourselves a big question: how can dying be harmonious? Because there is an inner contradiction - Helga wants to go peacefully, to accept death. But there is also the instinct for self-preservation: can it really be switched off when the moment comes - and there is still time until then - or not?
The film collects snapshots of letting go and saying goodbye - between living room and nursing home, last steps, poems and breaths. Without any noise or sound.
"It's very nice now that we've set it up like this - because getting to know each other... you can never get to know each other well enough."
