When a Russian oligarch accuses his trusted Swiss art dealer of a billion-dollar betrayal, their explosive feud pulls back the curtain on the secretive world of the ultra-wealthy – where masterpieces are currency, fortunes are hidden in plain sight, and power is everything. An exhilarating thriller on art’s shady backstages.
Created by Christoph Jörg and Andreas Dalsgaard
As American poster for this series states: “Trust comes at a price”. A shared love at first sight for Marc Chagall’s work, The Circus, sparks a friendship between the Swiss dealer Yves Bouvier and the Russian oligarch Dmitri Rybolovlev. Initially an advisor, Bouvier quickly becomes a key player in the art market, with the Geneva Free Port as his domain. But everything changes in 2015: Rybolovlev sues him for fraud. Thus begins one of the greatest art scandals of the 21st century. Across three episodes, each equally thrilling and unpredictable, Andreas Dalsgaard uncovers the secrets of this opaque world. Money, power, manipulation – all the ingredients of a great thriller are present. The strength of the series lies in the meticulous research and impressive investigation, but above all in Yves Bouvier’s on-camera presence – charismatic and determined to defend his story. A fascinating foray into the world of the ultra-rich, where everything – including trust – has a price.
