Nicole, 55, and her mother Alberte, 87, live together in a villa on the shores of Lake Geneva. Through their habits, they become trapped in codependency: Nicole seems incapable of autonomy, while Alberte is terrified at the idea of being alone. But as she grows closer to Lauren, her filmmaker niece, Nicole begins to explore the possibility of emancipation. A family film that adopts gentleness as its driving force.
Nicole, 55, and her mother Alberte, 87, have always lived together in a quiet villa on the shores of Lake Geneva. Governed by routine, their daily lives trap them in a stifling co-dependency. Nicole, in receipt of disability insurance (“But how are you disabled?” “No idea. And I really don’t care!"), seems incapable of autonomy. Alberte, for her part, appears terrified at the prospect of being left alone in this big house. Amidst this inertia, marked by the many clocks gathering dust and seemingly uncertain of the time they are supposed to be measuring, Danielle, Nicole’s sister, takes the initiative, assisting Nicole in her search for a job and an apartment. Lauren, Nicole’s filmmaker niece, brings a breath of fresh air. Together, through the film project, they explore the possibilities of emancipation through the power of creativity and a shared, complementary love of stories brought to life on screen. A family film that adopts gentleness in the face of adversity.
