Before Coachella and Woodstock, there was Newport. From 1963-66, the Newport Folk Festival gave America’s youth a voice, launched the protest song, and transformed Bob Dylan from balladeer to rock-influenced icon. The film immerses viewers in these years, told by those who were there – including Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and the Freedom Singers.
