Laura is a lawyer and city dweller, Gina is an entrepreneur and mother, Jamie looks after her horses on an isolated ranch. On the outskirts of a small town in Montana, all three move alone through their dayto-day lives of clashes and indifference. At times, their lives intersect like knots in a thread. A choral silence, which resonates in everything it leaves unsaid.

Laura, a lawyer in a small Montana town, steels herself with patience to deal with a demanding client. Gina, a mother, tries to salvage old stones for a construction project, while a strange distance grows within her home. A few hundred kilometres away, Jamie looks after horses alone on an isolated ranch. When Jamie meets Beth, a teacher who commutes between the two places, she tries to reach out, but the world around her seems impenetrable. Laura, Gina and Jamie move forward on their own between the little accidents and victories of ordinary life, but their presences clash with the disillusioned dejection of contemporary America. Sometimes, their lives intertwine and rekindle the hope of renewed bonds. Adapted from three short stories by Maile Meloy, Certain Women was presented at Sundance in 2016 and showcased the actress Lily Gladstone, in her acclaimed performance as Jamie.
