Three extraordinary jazzmen from Czechoslovakia, Laco Deczi (trumpet), Jan Jankeje (contrabass) and Lubo Tamškovič (saxophone) set off on their music career in the 1960s and were influenced by the Russian occupation.
Laco lives in New York, Jan in Stuttgart and Lubo used to live in Paris. Laco Deczi’s friend Chris DePino, a politician close to George W. Bush, is attempting to put on a concert at the George W. Bush ranch in Texas, commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall…
Filip Remunda (Czech Dream, 2004) and Robert Kirchhoff organise this gathering, prearranging some scenes, but always leaving them open-ended, in order to let their characters reveal themselves and become co-authors of their own portraits.
Navigating the humorous and tragic stories of their lives, all the characters - directors included - freely improvise in this lively documentary jam-session.
