Between 1939 and 1945, Ella Maillart, from Geneva, travelled East, driving across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and India. Made up of the words from her travel diary (read by Irène Jacob), black and white photos and colour images that she shot on her trip, the film questions a taste for the exotic and the search for oneself. A moving work that is truly modern.
