In 1953, Canvey Island, a forgotten isle just east of London, suffered the worst natural disaster in modern British history - a storm surge flooded the island and hundreds drowned. Now in 2021, thousands still live on the same floodplain which brought such devastation; nestled precariously between a crumbling sea wall, a rising tide and massive concentrations of hazardous oil and gas storage.UNTIL THE TIDE CREEPS IN tells the story of three islanders as they try to prevent a major disaster from destroying their home. Playing with fiction, time and trauma, the film warns of the dystopian future that residents face, while they continue to live in constant fear.
