Alongside the screenings, Visions du Réel is dedicating an exhibition this year to the TTP series by Japanese photographer Hayahisa Tomiyasu, which will be held from 18 April to 28 May at the Théâtre de Grand-Champ in Gland. At the heart of the visual identity of the 57th edition of Visions du Réel, the TTP series forms a photographic collection captured by the Japanese artist from the window of his apartment.
This year, Visions du Réel is dedicating an exhibition to the TTP series by Japanese photographer Hayahisa Tomiyasu, which will be held from 18 April to 28 May at the Théâtre de Grand-Champ in Gland. At the heart of the visual identity of the 57th edition of Visions du Réel, the TTP series forms a photographic collection captured by the Japanese artist from the window of his apartment. The critically-acclaimed images depict a ping-pong table in an urban space, with a visual composition that changes over time and as the seasons change. By documenting life around a single ping-pong table over five years, Hayahisa Tomiyasu approaches it not only as a setting but also as a witness to the passage of time. The festival posters draw on some of these photographs which, beyond their serial and temporal qualities evocative of cinema, capture the humour or absurdity that sometimes arises in everyday life. This exhibition is part of the collaboration between Visions du Réel, the City of Gland, the Théâtre de Grand-Champ and the Geneva-based design studio Neo Neo.
