The Starry Hours

AGNI, an ageing visual artist, painter and sculptor, is rushing to complete his creations. Behind closed doors in his artwork-house, the filmmakers meet him and discover his frenetic practice. Anchored in an obsessive routine, every moment of his time is devoted to his creativity. He constantly oscillates between his studio and the kitchen, where his creations and basic necessities merge. Exalted by an impossible quest, he strives to complete a multitude of objects in order to finish his Work.

As the hours slip away, his health declines. He resists by prolonging his existence through his passion. As he approaches the final stage of his life, death seeps into everything: his creations, his conversations and his thoughts. Soon, he will join the stars peering down on the glass roof of his studio.

The film offers a reflection on existence by portraying an old man who remains in awe of life and his work, despite the inevitable confrontation with death.
