The documentary Blue is about the Black Salzburg musician Mwita Mataro and the confrontation with his Black Austrian identity.

However, the story does not begin in Austria, but in Greenland - a fantasy world that Mwita Mataro brings to life together with six Black children. In this world live the Greens and Blues, small colorful creatures. But the appearance of the idyllic surroundings is deceptive.

Framed by the adventures of "Blue Kid", the hero of the story, Mataro's personal journey also unfolds. Both encounter resistance when they forget to adapt to mainstream society in everyday life. Both then decide that they want to collect the stories of their companions.

In his journey through Austria, Mataro documents the experiences of a wide range of Black people. Personalities such as doctor and former politician Mireille Ngosso, journalist Claudia Unterweger and educator Fred Ohenhen have their say. In the course of Blue Kid's story, the film also gets closer to the children
