This Code of Conduct aims to ensure that all screenings, talks, professional activities, and gatherings take place in an environment based on respect, inclusivity, and integrity.
We thank all participants for helping create a positive and respectful festival experience.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all festival participants, including staff, volunteers, accredited guests, filmmakers, industry professionals, partners, and members of the public.
By participating in Visions du Réel, you agree to respect these principles and to contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Commitment to Respect and Inclusion
The Festival is committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or inappropriate behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.
This includes discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, nationality, or any other personal characteristic.
All participants are expected to behave respectfully in both professional and social contexts related to the Festival.
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are considered unacceptable at the Festival:
- Aggression or Violence: Verbal, physical, or psychological abuse.
- Harassment or Bullying: Intimidation, exclusion, threats, or repeated unwanted interactions.
- Abuse of Power: Misuse of authority or influence within the Festival context.
- Discrimination: Unequal or unfair treatment based on personal characteristics.
- Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome sexual advances, comments, gestures, or physical contact.
Enforcement
Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate action by the Festival.
Depending on the severity of the situation, measures may include warnings, restrictions on participation, suspension or withdrawal of accreditation, exclusion from Festival venues or events, and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities.
Visions du Réel reserves the right to suspend or withdraw accreditation without notice if these rules are violated.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, we encourage you to report it to a member of the Festival team.
Reports will be handled with discretion and respect. The Festival will review each situation carefully and take appropriate action when necessary.
Emergencies and Support
In case of emergency in Switzerland, please call 112 or 117 for the police.
Participants who require support during the Festival may also contact the Festival team at any time.
