3e Scène - Opéra national de Paris
A stage surrounded by heavy curtains. Spotlights come on. The orchestra is in its pit. A silent crowd looks on. Then everything spins: lights, ribbons, voices, tulle and tutu, instruments…
The eight short films presented in this programme take into account the atmosphere of suspense, the expectation backstage like the strength that is woven on the stages of the Opéra national de Paris. But let there be no mistake: while some of the most interesting filmmakers of the moment were called upon to direct them (Mathieu Amalric, Danielle Arbid, Clément Cogitore, Valérie Donzelli, Claude Lévêque, Stéphanie Solinas, Thierry Thieu Niang, Jean-Gabriel Périot), it was to ensure that it would be a matter of expression and creation. They introduce us to what is afoot beyond the stage of these grand performing arts locations and offer a perspective on an abundant imagination, going further than the most famous pages in the history of the Opera. Their singular and strong points of view take us into an all-new space, one inaccessible to the audience of the Parisian institution: a third stage.
