In the streets of Oakland, an urban gleaner collects aluminium and copper. The materials will then be weighed, pressed, piled into containers, which are then too piled onto boats that disappear over the horizon. In a skilful play on rhythm made of images and sounds, Scrap transforms the material and textures of the city into raw material for a film, and reveals the way the System D micro-economy fits into the shadow of a globalised market.
