Within the hospital, sleep becomes an induced physical experience in which various phases systematically alternate. The preparation of the patient for surgery becomes a rite of passage, between the conscious and unconscious worlds. Every action is monitored and meticulously analysed. Waves is a journey into the movements of sleep, a transfigured scientific perception of a sleeping body.

An intricate mass of wires surrounds a patient in a hospital. Highly technological equipment tries to monitor the sleeping body through the mass of information it keeps producing when we are “not there”. Our “status” of human being mutates and life is transposed into waves, which appear on a computer screen. The many complex operations required to prepare the body for the experience become a rite of passage between the conscious and unconscious worlds. Once the body is freed from the consciousness of its presence, images that were at some point impressed in our retina “come back to life” and merge with states of mind in the vertigo mystery of the subconscious. Every visible or invisible action of the patient is monitored and meticulously analyzed. Onde is a journey into the movements of sleep, a transfigured scientific perception of a sleeping body.
