A small room. A producer. A mixboard. A mic. A rapper. The beat goes on and on. The flow is strong. The air in the studio could be cut up with a knife. The bodies move with the music. Everyone in the room is focused. No one wants to waste time. Everyone is paying close attention. Trying to get a hold of that very moment when the song reveals itself. That single moment when “it happens”.

Everyone in the room is focused. No one wants to waste time. Everyone is paying close attention. Trying to get a hold of that very moment when the song reveals itself. That single moment when “it happens”. There’s camaraderie in the room. These people go way back. Hip hop is their music. It tells the story of their struggles. It reminds them of the streets they grew up on. Then beat comes around. It is a tight and “phat” sound. The “shit” is finally tight enough for the MC to start rappin’. Modulations is the story of how music keeps the community together. How an art form managed to rise from poverty and become a tool of expression for thousands of disfranchised youths. Director Delphine Abomigliano steps into a world where words and music combined are the only daily newscast available. The only one worth trusting anyway. Modulationsis how these news get made.
