The theme park Kingdom of Dwarves opened to the public in 2009 in the Yunnan province of China. A heavy recruitment campaign started as dwarves from all over China were asked to live and work inside the facilities of the park itself and entertain the paying guests. In order to be employed, two rules had to be applied strictly. All personnel could not be taller than 130 cm and the age range had to be between 18 and 40 years. Once the people seeking employment could fulfil these two requirements they were on board. Avoiding every politically correct cliché the directors tread on some very bumpy ground. What they walk into is a completely alien landscape. The people working on the premises of the park have transformed it to make it fit their own image of the world. Thus a parallel fantasy world is created at the heart of mass entertainment itself. A world that subverts the values and rules of the vast and silent majority. A Flea’s Skin Would Be Too Big For You is a subtle and anarchistic tale that refutes the idea that there does exist something called “normality”.
