The Reflex competition, which emerged in 2015 from a collaboration between the Service écoles-médias of the DIP Geneva and Visions du Réel, highlights just how impressively well the younger generations have mastered the use of digital media. Young people aged between 12 and 26, divided into three categories, are challenged to make a three-minute film on a set topic. The selected films are submitted to a panel of experts for assessment, who award several prizes at the awards ceremony in Nyon at the Visions du Réel Festival. The audience is also invited to vote.
The theme for this new 2027 edition is ‘Original Version’. A unique voice, a language, an identity, a different perspective on the world… What does it mean to be original? Does it mean thinking outside the box, asserting one’s difference, or simply telling a story in one’s own way? These are all avenues to explore, reinterpret and reinvent, whether in front of or behind the camera.
