A Free Daughter of Free Kyrgyzstan

In this Central Asian country where young women are still kidnapped as brides and conservative groups are gaining political influence, 21-year-old activist/pop-star Zere Asylbek refuses to back down. This verité-style film follows the musical journey of an activist/pop star as she fights against gender inequality, despite being labeled as an "Agent of the West". However, as authorities seek to quiet feminists and activists, both Zere and her family worry about how much attention her musical career and activism bring when not even the police can be trusted.
