2024, Germany, 31 min
27-year-old Ann Catherine Meyer aka. Lotti, an industrial technician and works council member at the Thyssenkrupp steel factory in Gelsenkirchen, tackles different roles and expectations as she advocates for the green transition and the future of the steel industry, deep in Germany’s rust belt. In her leading position in the metal workers' union, Lotti takes action against the rising tide of the far right in the Ruhr region, while at her workplace, she is still the only woman and queer person, in a place frozen in time. The stakes are raised even higher when news breaks that Thyssenkrupp is being bought out by a Czech billionaire. While the future of the factory and its workers is thrown into uncertainty, Lotti also faces a deeply personal crisis. Her father is diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, forcing her to confront mortality and changing family dynamics.
