The Elimination

Polypedates megacephalus, a small and inconspicuous tree frog, is now growing strong and ready to take over here and there in Taiwan. Over and over, scientists and volunteers try to remove them to protect our native frogs. At the same time, the loud mating calls of cane toads, the other massive invaders, are unfortunately heard in central Taiwan. An all-out ecological catastrophe seemed inevitable as they look so innocent that we could hardly imagine.The Elimination is not only a film regarding the invasive alien species issue in Taiwan, but also as a metaphor to reflect that human kind can never avoid the endless ‘invasive’ from the outside world through intense gaze in black and white images.
