Tero und sein Sohn Henri reparieren Motoren, wärmen Mahlzeiten auf und führen ein Leben in inniger Zuneigung und Verbundenheit. Als Henri mit seiner Freundin Alina zusammenzieht, muss Tero lernen, ohne ihn zu leben. Eine Geschichte über Männer, die sich mit der immerwährenden Schule des Lebens, der Absurdität der Existenz und der Angst vor Einsamkeit auseinandersetzen müssen. Tero and Henri share a life of deeply affectionate companionship, filled with engines to repair and reheated meals, far removed from the world in their wooden-walled house near the forest somewhere in Finland. Tero, deeply anchored in the unconditional love of a single father, is well settled into the routine. But things can’t stay this way forever. Henri, standing at the threshold of adulthood, must decide what he wants to do with his life. When he decides to move in with his girlfriend Alina, Tero – like his dog Yuri, who is repeatedly left outside – will have to get used to staying behind the door. As he waits to relearn life without him, the empty beer cans pile up at the foot of the bed and the parent-child roles are reversed. The Beauty of Errors tells the story of men coming to terms with life’s long apprenticeship, the absurdity of existence and the fear of loneliness. Through precise framing and a pictorial composition that places the characters in dialogue with their surroundings, inner landscapes are revealed and expressed with tenderness and humour.
