Filming those who are close: family, lovers, mascots... is one of the most widespread cinematographical genres. Often associated with amateur filmmaking, the so-called “family” film has spanned the history of documentaries. Is it still a “non-professional” film genre today? What purpose does intimate filmmaking have? How can we link private and public spaces in family filmmaking? How can we make this seemingly private subject into a universal one?
