What makes us boys tells the story of Daan (14) and his little brother Sam (11). They support each other in a rapidly changing world that isn’t always easy on them. Daan struggles with EDS disease and Sam is born a girl. When Daan transfers to high school everything changes. He fights his way through his first year and is confronted with a rollercoaster of feelings. Will he ever find the courage to be himself?What makes us boys is a narrative about teenagers growing up in the digital age, which at times can be wonderfully rich but also horribly lonely.
