During the Festival (13\u201321 April), a retrospective will be dedicated to the filmmaker, who will present a Masterclass on&nbsp;<strong>Tuesday 17 April 2018, 10:00<\/strong>: a unique opportunity to discover her universe, fluctuating between documentary and fiction.&nbsp;With a laudatio by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Maire, Director of the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que suisse A collaboration with&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinematheque.ch\/f\/\">Cine\u0301mathe\u0300que suisse<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecal.ch\/\">ECAL<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-masterclass\">Masterclass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Masterclass Claire Simon | Ma\u00eetre du R\u00e9el, ECAL\/Visions du R\u00e9el 2018\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oogyEQEqaoQ?feature=oembed&#038;modestbranding=1&#038;showinfo=0&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Claire Simon taught herself filmmaking, via editing. She moved towards documentary film, even if her aesthetics would never cease to blur the boundaries separating documentary from fiction. In the 1990s, she shot <em>R\u00e9cr\u00e9ations<\/em> and <em>Co\u00fbte que co\u00fbte<\/em> (Locarno Festival), which won a number of prizes, then made a foray into fiction with <em>Sinon, oui<\/em> (1997, Festival de Cannes), inspired by&#8230; a true story. By taking possession of authentic accounts, that prove her taste for the fictional, Claire Simon next filmed her daughter\u2019s flirtation (<em>800 km de diff\u00e9rence\/Romance<\/em>, 2001, FIDMarseille) then, among others, <em>Les Bureaux de Dieu <\/em>(2008, Quinzaine des R\u00e9alisateurs Cannes), in which she had both famous and amateur actresses perform, or <em>Le Bois dont les r\u00eaves sont faits<\/em> (2016). She has just finished a new feature-length film about adolescence entitled <em>Premi\u00e8res solitudes<\/em>&nbsp;(Berlinale).<br>In addition to being present in Nyon during the Festival, Claire Simon will also attend the screenings of <em>G\u00e9ographie humaine<\/em> and <em>Gare du Nord<\/em> (2013) in Lausanne on 18 April.
