THE FUTURE OF CREATIVE DOCUMENTARY FILMS

Venue : Industry (la Mobilière) – Screening Room 1

Accessibility : Open to the public – free admission

Duration : until 13:30

Today, the most important types of media platforms for our films (cinemas, TV and web platforms), as well as the viewers’ habits are changing. How will these changes affect creative documentaries and how can documentary filmmakers respond to them? We will study these issues in three steps. With representatives of this field, we will define what kind of films we wish to see and make and to figure out what kind of importance documentary films have within a social discourse. With TV editors and financial backers, we will imagine new ways in which we may collaborate together. Finally, we hope to evaluate how feature documentary films may find their audience and what their production chain could look like. We will also investigate on how supporting institutions can adapt to these changes within the creative documentary world.
