Morning Talks

Every morning, come and meet the filmmakers who presented a film the previous day. The members of the selection committee of Visions du Réel animate these daily encounters; informal debates where everyone is invited to share their experiences and film practices.

VR PROJECT: AFROROUTES

This year, we have also organized an immersive project presentation (Afroroutes by Sélim Harbi), co-hosted by SUPSI. Eight VR headsets will be available to the public for the first time, before and after the roundtable. Afroroutes is a virtual reality music experience, an immersive journey through the diverse slavery roads, documenting and exploring today’s afro-cultures, rites and traditions worldwide.

The Pitching du Réel is Visions du Réel’s international coproduction forum for creative documentaries intended for theatrical distribution and TV broadcasting. it offers participants the opportunity to discuss the content and form of their project and to find out which contexts and markets might be the most relevant for it. It encourages international coproductions and helps the funding of outstanding film projects addressing an international audience.

The Rough Cut Lab invites four teams of films in their final production stages to present their rough cut to industry professionals in order to get specific feedbacks and advices.

"New narrative formats and immersive storytelling: what are the consequences for production and distribution?” – organised as part of the Interactive Documentary Workshop run by SUPSI (The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland). With: Karim Ben Khelifa (creator, The Enemy), Pierre Cattan (producer, Small Bang), Selim Harbi (creator, Afroroutes) and commissioning editors. The public will have the opportunity to experience Afroroutes in presence of the creator before and after the round table.
