At the heart of Visions du Réel's programme this year: several portraits of exceptional women. Women are also honoured behind the camera this year: they represent nearly 40% of the 160 filmmakers selected for the Festival.
166 films from 54 countries are presented at Visions du Réel this year, from 17 to 25 April. Among these, 83 films are world premieres and 30 international premieres.
The section Regard Neuf is a selection of feature films allowing to discover new talents (first and second films). They are all screened as world and international premieres.
The films in the Grand Angle section aim to take the audience on a journey. They are screened as world premieres or have been acclaimed at prestigious festivals.
In the Premiers Pas section, 18 first short films from young Swiss and foreign film school graduates. The films in this competition are all being screened as world or international premieres.
Through it traditional Ateliers, Visions du Réel enables the public to meet renowned filmmakers and watch a selection of their work. The filmmakers Harutyun Khachatryan and Vincent Dieutre are honoured this year.
Focus: A foray into the documentary filmmaking of a country in the South or East of the world. This year, Visions du Réel is presenting a selection of contemporary Georgian cinema.

Doc Alliance supports documentary film distribution through the streaming website DAFilms.com, and in the festivals belonging to the association through an itinerant selection of films from young European authors. This year, Visions du Réel is presenting three of them.
