The success of the film "Sacro GRA" shows how important Visions du Réel's film market, the Doc Outlook-International Market (DOCM), is.
"Our main target with Pitching du Réel is to enable producers and directors to present their feature documentary film projects to professionals of the industry, including potential co-financing" says Gudula Meinzolt, in charge of DOCM. "The projects are discussed in round tables and individual meetings. This can also give the directors new ideas and insights for completing their still in development film project." From the 130 projects submitted each year to the DOCM, only 15 are selected for the Pitching du Réel.
That a film from Pitching du Réel should win the Golden Lion in Venice the next year shows the excellent level of the selection made at DOCM and its utility in supporting documentary film professionals.
