Today, the members of the Foundation Board elected Raymond Loretan to follow Claude Ruey as the President of the Visions du Réel Foundation Board. Raymond Loretan will take office on 1 October 2019.

After 15 years of activity within the Festival’s Foundation Board, including 10 years as Executive President, Claude Ruey announced in January 2019 that he would step down after the 50th edition of Visions du Réel. The Board would like to express its deep gratitude to him for the work he accomplished and has appointed him Honorary President. This replacement, preceded by a reorganisation in the Festival’s management, makes it possible to return to a strategic presidency.

Former Chairman of SSR SRG, former Swiss ambassador to Singapore, and Consul General to New York, Raymond Loretan will bring political, economic and cultural experience to the Festival.
“I look forward to working closely with the Artistic Director Emilie Bujès and the Administrative Director Martine Chalverat and to shaping the next stage of development of Visions du Réel together, with the Bureau and the members of the Foundation Board,” announced Raymond Loretan on the evening of his nomination. The Bureau of the Foundation Board is made up of Gilles Pache –Vice-President, Bernadette Nelissen, Yvan Quartenoud –Treasurer, Lionel Baier and Guillaume Etier.

In the wake of its magnificent 50th edition and buoyed by this new governance, Visions du Réel is already focusing on its next edition, which will take place from 24 April to 2 May 2020.
