Doc Alliance Award 2014 winner: A CAMPANHA DO CREOULA (The Quest of the Schooner Creoula), by Andre Valentim Almeida.

Doc Alliance is the result of a creative project between seven major European documentary film festivals: CPH:DOX Copenhague, Doclisboa, DOK Leipzig, IDFF Jihlava, Planete Doc Review Varsovie, FID Marseille and Visions du Réel.

As part of this cooperation, each festival selects a film. An international jury then rewards the best movie with the Doc Alliance Award

This year, the Doc Alliance Award goes to the Danish film A CAMPANHA DO CREOULA (The Quest of the Schooner Creoula), by Andre Valentim Almeida.

Aboard the schooner Creoula on a scientific expedition, the film’s journey very quickly becomes even richer and more fascinating. An intimate and personal dimension emerges as the filmmaker holds his gaze and expresses his thoughts. An epic exploration of the history of Portuguese fishing off Newfoundland unfolds with the help of sumptuous archival images.

A CAMPANHA DO CREOULA (The Quest of the Schooner Creoula) was presented as n International Premiere during Visions du Réel 2014, within the Doc Alliance Selection.
