CALICUCHIMA is the name of a street in south-side Guayaquil, Ecuador. Home of "El Yate" (The Yatch), a quaint bar only a few blocks from a major football stadium, and across from an abandoned movie theatre, it served as a hub for nightlife and close-knit community during the 1960s and 70s. Decades later, it gathers once again those that used to frequent this street, for a night of light drinking, cards playing, and jukebox singing. CALICUCHIMA uses traditional colloquialisms, captured through a seemingly continuous shot, to reveal a rich cultural heritage of the city.
