'Penny' is the story of a woman who grew up in the 60's in working class England. Attracted to the Hippie movement and a flare for her own individual style, she wishes to go to Art school, but doesn't have the means or know how to do so. She ends up working in a chicken factory, where she meets a guy who becomes a huge influence on the course of her life. The story follows her time traveling overland from England to Asia on a bus and living on the beach in Pakistan. After returning to England, through lack of money, she heads towards a bohemian life of travel, drugs, male abuse and a run in with the law in Germany . Unable to cope with her own life, she bares a life long guilt of not fulfilling her life as a mother and feels that void at one point by taking care of 32 cats. Finally she ends up full circle, back where she started, taking a replica of her previous apartment with her. Tattooed cats paw prints cover her arms and a new family of animals have been adopted to take care of.
