Festivalausgabe ank\u00fcndigen zu d\u00fcrfen. Am Samstag, den 18. April, wird Sergei Loznitsa an der kommenden Ausgabe des Festivals im Rahmen einer Masterclass in Zusammenarbeit mit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/fr\/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=sea&amp;utm_campaign=marque_generique&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=9917845083&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAD573hWkbEK2PVmrUtLDUx2fw8Rag&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiAtfXMBhDzARIsAJ0jp3BdEdQ-ebkNCzDAgrnsk1jNuQN00mzUKJ2eyMR-jBTtv4-0A1SjUaEaAn1-EALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arte<\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hesge.ch\/head\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HEAD \u2013 Gen\u00e8ve<\/a> teilnehmen. Eine Retrospektive seines okumentarischen Werks wird ebenfalls Teil des Programms sein. <br>In der Tradition der sowjetischen Avantgarde durchk\u00e4mmen seine Filme post-sowjetisches Territorium und Ged\u00e4chtnis, samt allen Umw\u00e4lzungen und ewaltzyklen. W\u00e4hrend des Zerfalls der UdSSR machte er seine filmische Ausbildung und hat mittlerweile 28 lange Dokumentar- und f\u00fcnf Spielfilme auf seinem Konto. Seine Werke liefern eine so pr\u00e4gnante wie faszinierende Sicht auf die post-sowjetische \u00c4ra und zeugen von einer analytischen und kritischen Geschichtsbetrachtung.<br><br>Seine dem Direct Cinema verpflichteten und vorwiegend in festen Einstellungen gedrehten Filme enthalten sich jeden Kommentars und widmen sich dem brandaktuellen Zeitgeschehen ebenso wie den Traumata der Vergangenheit. Drei seiner Filme nehmen dementsprechend die politische Lage in der Ukraine und die Orte, an denen Geschichte geschrieben wurde, unter die Lupe. Mit dem in knapp 4 Monaten gedrehten und in einer Sondervorf\u00fchrung auf dem Festival von Cannes pr\u00e4sentierten <em>Maidan<\/em> (2014) erweist sich Sergei Loznitsa als Chronist der Demonstrationen, die zur ukrainischen Revolution gef\u00fchrt haben. Er zeichnet ein strukturalistisches Fresko, dessen einziger Held die sich gerade herausbildende politische Gemeinschaft ist. In <em>Donbass<\/em> (2018), dessen Drehbuch sich auf auf Youtube gefundene Amateurvideos st\u00fctzte, schildert der Filmemacher die Macht\u00fcbernahme in der Region Donbass durch russischsprachige Milizen, die in Konflikt mit der ukrainischen Armee geraten sind. In dreizehn tableau-\u00e4hnlichen Sequenzen beschreibt sein Film den Alltag der zwischen Loyalit\u00e4t und Separatismus feststeckenden Einwohner*innen. In <em>The Invasion<\/em> (2024), einem Film \u00fcber den Kampf seines Landes gegen die russische Invasion, setzt Sergei Loznitsa seine ukrainische Chronik schliesslich fort. Der in einem Zeitraum von zwei Jahren gedrehte Film schildert das Leben der Zivilbev\u00f6lkerung im gesamten Gebiet der Ukraine und f\u00e4ngt die Widerstandskraft der ukrainischen Bev\u00f6lkerung gegen den russischen Angriffskrieg ein. <br><br>Der ebenfalls dem Direct Cinema verpflichtete <em>Austerlitz<\/em> (2016) hinterfragt die Banalisierung der Erinnerung an die Shoa und f\u00e4ngt in langen, fixen Schwarz-Weiss-Einstellungen Touristen beim Besuch eines alten Konzentrationslagers ein, das in eine Gedenkst\u00e4tte umgewandelt wurde. Das Werk von Sergei Loznitsa zeichnet sich auch durch mehrere \u201eRemontage\u201c-Filme aus, die aus bereits vorhandenem Material zusammengesetzt sind und in denen die Trennung von Bild und Ton zum Gestaltungsprinzip erhoben wird. Diese Filme basieren auf Archivmaterial und auf dessen Umgestaltung vermittels der Montage und anderer formaler Beschl\u00fcsse, vor allem auf der Ton-Ebene, bei der die Bedeutung der Arbeit von Vladimir Golovnitsky zum Tragen kommt, der seit 2003 Loznitsas fester Tonmann ist.<br><br>Dieser k\u00fcnstlerische Ansatz erlaubt es Sergei Loznitsa, die toten Winkel der sowjetischen Geschichte auszuleuchten, aber auch die Vergangenheit mit der Gegenwart in Dialog zu setzen, indem er die Prozesse hinterfragt, die die Herausbildung des kollektiven post-sowjetischen Ged\u00e4chtnisses gestalten. So wurde <em>Blockade<\/em> (2005) ausschliesslich aus w\u00e4hrend der Belagerung von Leningrad (8. September 1941 \u2013 27. Januar 1944) gedrehten Bildern montiert, wobei der Krieg nur im Off stattfindet und der t\u00e4gliche \u00dcberlebenskampf der Bev\u00f6lkerung im Vordergrund steht. Mittels Propaganda- und Nachrichtenfilmen schildert <em>Predstavlenie<\/em> (2008) das Leben der Sowjets in den Jahren 1950\u2013 1960, w\u00e4hrend <em>The Event<\/em> (2015) sich dem 1991 in Moskau stattgefundenen Staatsstreich widmet. Der 2020 in Nyon gezeigte <em>State Funeral <\/em>(2019) geht anhand von Archivaufnahmen des Begr\u00e4bnisses von Stalin im Jahr 1953 der Frage des Personenkults nach, und der auf dem Festival von Cannes in einer Sondervorf\u00fchrung gezeigte <em>Babi Yar. Context<\/em> (2021) besch\u00e4ftigt sich ganz ohne Off-Kommentar mit der Geschichte des gr\u00f6ssten Massakers an Juden w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs, das unweit von Kiew stattfand. Durch seine Montage und die Vertonung von Archivbildern rekonstruiert Sergei Loznitsa die Ereignisse, die 1941 zur Hinrichtung von 33 000 Juden durch die deutschen Einsatzgruppen f\u00fchrten. Er wurde am 5. September 1964 in der ehemaligen<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"> UdSSR geboren und ist in Kiew aufgewachsen. Nach seinem Abschluss in <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Mathematik 1987 am Polytechnikum in Kiew forschte er von 1987 bis 1991 am Institut f\u00fcr Kybernetik in Kiew im <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Fachbereich K\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">1997 schloss Sergei Loznitsa sein Studium an der renommierten russischen Filmhochschule in Moskau (VGIK) ab. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Seither hat er seine Kunst in 28 Dokumentar- und f\u00fcnf Spielfilmen weiterentwickelt. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Sein erster langer Spielfilm,<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">My Joy<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2010), lief auf dem Festival von Cannes im Wettbewerb. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">folgte der Spielfilm<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">In the Fog<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2012), der den Prix FIPRESCI an der Croisette gewann. 2014 kehrte der <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Filmemacher an die Croisette zur\u00fcck, um dort einer Sondervorf\u00fchrung die Weltpremiere seines Films<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Maidan<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">zu <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">feiern. 2017 lief sein dritter Spielfilm,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">A Gentle Creature<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, im Wettbewerb von Cannes. 2018 gewann der <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ukrainische Filmemacher mit<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Donbass<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">den Prix Un Certain Regard und 2021 mit seinem Film<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Babi Yar.<\/span> <\/em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><em>Context<\/em> den Prix sp\u00e9cial du Jury de L\u2019\u0152il d\u2019or am Festival von Cannes. Fortan ist Sergei Loznitsa Stammgast an der Croisette, seine Filme <em>The Invasion<\/em> (2024) und <em>Two Prosecutors<\/em> (2025) feierten dort Weltpremiere. Letzterer, der auch sein bis dato j\u00fcngster Spielfilm ist, ging auf dem letztj\u00e4hrigen Festival von Cannes ins Rennen um die Goldene Palme. Seine Filme <em>The Event<\/em> (2015), <em>Austerlitz<\/em> (2016), <em>State Funeral<\/em> (2019) und <em>The Kiev Trial<\/em> (2022) liefen in Sondervorf\u00fchrungen an der Mostra von Venedig.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Des Weiteren ist Sergei Loznitsa Gr\u00fcnder der Produktionsfirma ATOMS &amp; VOID.
