Festivalausgabe begr\u00fcssen zu d\u00fcrfen. Kelly Reichardt wird am Festival im Zuge einer Masterclass, einer Retrospektive ihres Werkes sowie einer Carte blanche teilnehmen, wobei auch ihr j\u00fcngster Langfilm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AWokrf6yeEU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Mastermind<\/em><\/a> als Vorpremiere zur Auff\u00fchrung kommen wird. Mit neun Langfilmen in dreissig Jahren \u2013 darunter <em>Meek\u2019s Cutoff<\/em>, <em>First Cow<\/em> oder <em>Certain Women<\/em> \u2013 und einigen Kurzfilmen zeichnet sich ihre mit Sorgfalt, fernab der grossen Hollywoodstudios erarbeitete Filmografie durch ihre Bescheidenheit in der Wahl der Mittel aus und durch ihren Hang, typisch amerikanische Filmgenres wie den Western, den Thriller, den Historienfilm oder das Roadmovie neu zu interpretieren. Ihr Anliegen, die vom amerikanischen Traum Ausgeschlossenen ins Licht zu r\u00fccken, zieht sich wie ein roter Faden durch ihr Werk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch wenn sie dem Spielfilm verpflichtet ist, flirtet Kelly Reichardt in ihrer Arbeit in vielerlei Hinsicht mit dem (Kino) des Realen: Ablehnung von Sensationalismus, \u00d6konomie der Produktion, reduzierte Narration und strenge \u00c4sthetik, ausf\u00fchrliches Locationscouting, Anpassung des Drehbuchs an die Drehbedingungen, sowie das Eintauchen des Teams in die Lebensverh\u00e4ltnisse an den Filmschaupl\u00e4tzen bilden das methodische Fundament einer filmischen Herangehensweise, die so besonders wie unverwechselbar ist. Der Film wurde beim Sundance Festival und in Berlin gezeigt und beweist <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ihre Vorliebe f\u00fcr entlegene Gegenden und ein Erz\u00e4hlen zwischen den Zeilen.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Um die <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Jahrtausendwende herum macht Reichardt eine Pause vom Langfilm und erkundet leichtere filmische <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Formen, die sie auf Super 8 und v\u00f6llig unabh\u00e4ngig dreht:<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Ode<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(1999), ein kontemplativer mittellanger <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Film, sowie die Kurzfilme<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Then a Year<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2001), den sie in Portland in Oregon dreht und der auf einer <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Klangcollage aus Fernsehsendungen \u00fcber das Verbrechen basiert, und<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Travis<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2004), der auf ein <\/span>rekonstruiertes Interview mit einer Mutter aus Portland zur\u00fcckgeht, deren Sohn im Irak get\u00f6tet wurde.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"p-pdf_iframe__page\" aria-label=\"Page\u00a02\" data-page-number=\"2\">\n<div class=\"textLayer\" data-main-rotation=\"0\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Ab den 2000er-Jahren besch\u00e4ftigen sich die Filme von Kelly Reichardt mit den politischen, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u00f6konomischen und sozialen Realit\u00e4ten des zeitgen\u00f6ssischen Amerika, die sie nun ins Zentrum ihrer <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Geschichten r\u00fcckt. Vor dem Hintergrund der Bush-\u00c4ra und des Irakkriegs liefert sie uns mit<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Old Joy <\/span><\/em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2006, Tiger Award Rotterdam)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">eine ruhige Meditation \u00fcber die Freundschaft in einer zwischen <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Gentrifikation und sozialem Abstieg zerrissenen Gesellschaft. In<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Wendy and Lucy<\/span> <\/em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2008, Un Certain <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Regard in Cannes<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">), der von der massiven Prekarisierung inspiriert ist, die infolge des Hurrikans <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Katrina zu beobachten war, richtet Reichardt ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf die R\u00e4nder und filmt mit <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">extremer Zur\u00fcckhaltung den sozialen Abstieg einer jungen Frau, die sich mit der Armut konfrontiert <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">sieht.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"textLayer\" data-main-rotation=\"0\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Auch untersucht die Filmemacherin die Urspr\u00fcnge der amerikanischen Gesellschaft in zwei Anti-<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Western: In<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Meek\u2019s Cutoff<\/span><\/em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, (2010, Mostra von Venedig) und<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">First Cow<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2019, Telluride, Berlinale) <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">dekonstruiert sie die Heldengeschichte von der Eroberung des Westens, indem sie lange \u00fcbersehene <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Formen von Arbeit, Herrschaft und Enteignung sichtbar macht. Diese Konzentration auf die <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">moralischen und politischen Folgen von Taten kennzeichnet auch ihren schlichten <em>\u00d6kothriller<\/em><\/span><em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Night <\/span><\/em><em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Moves<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2013, Mostra von Venedig), sowie ihre Filme<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Certain Women<\/span><\/em> (2016, Sundance, Festival von Cannes) <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">und<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Showing Up<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2022, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Festival von Cannes), zwei sensible Portr\u00e4ts einfacher Menschen, die mit den Zw\u00e4ngen des Alltags <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">k\u00e4mpfen.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"textLayer\" data-main-rotation=\"0\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Mit ihrem letzten Film<\/span> <em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Mastermind<\/span><\/em> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(2025),<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">der auch im Wettbewerb des Festivals von Cannes <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">gelaufen ist, erz\u00e4hlt Kelly Reichardt die Geschichte eines Kunstraubs und seiner Folgen vor dem <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Hintergrund des Vietnamkriegs und der Frauenbewegung in den unruhigen 1970er-Jahren.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"textLayer\" data-main-rotation=\"0\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Die Filme von Kelly Reichardt waren Gegenstand zahlreicher Retrospektiven wie im MoMa, im Centre <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Pompidou, in den Anthology Film Archives, im Walker Art Center und in der American Cinematheque <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">von Los Angeles, sowie im Rahmen einer Europa-Tournee (<\/span><em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The American Landscape: The Films of <\/span><\/em><em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Kelly Reichardt<\/span><\/em><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">). Reichardt gewann die Carrosse d\u2019Or an der Quinzaine des R\u00e9alisateurs am Festival <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">von Cannes 2022 und erhielt mehrere bedeutende Stipendien wie das Guggenheim-Stipendium.
